About Paper:
stigma around seeking help for their well-being. We have interviewed University of Oregon faculty and staff, in addition to accessing articles and personal experiences regarding mental health. These all account for primary and secondary sources in our project. Mariko Lin, from the University of Oregon's Counseling Center, specifically addressed that, relating to positive mental health, 25% of students at UO in 2021 felt like they had a positive mental health, compared to 38% nationally (The Healthy Minds Network). In response to this, two potential methods for breaking the stigma around mental health include a mandatory peer-led presentation similar to Get Explicit and a weekly seminar held by graduate students for undergraduates. Ultimately, through more peer-led events, such as the ones listed above, the conversation surrounding mental health on campus will increase as students learn how to have a positive relationship with their health and struggles.
