This study explores if there is a relationship between low self-esteem and high anxiety levels among a sample of 127 college psychology students aged 18-34. Participants completed an online survey answering questions pertaining to anxiety and depression, which were measured through the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 Scale and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale respectively. Building on a comprehensive literature review, the study hypothesized a moderate, negative correlation between anxiety and self-esteem. Results reveal a statistically significant and moderately negative correlation. The findings align with prior research, highlighting the potential mediating role of self-esteem in anxiety reduction. The study's implications for psychology and everyday life suggest the importance of interventions targeting self-esteem enhancement to alleviate anxiety symptoms. Future research should focus on diverse samples, longitudinal designs, and exploring mediating factors for a deeper understanding of this complex relationship.
