The social issue addressed in this project is immigration enforcement and the impact of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) policies on individuals and communities. Immigration enforcement practices have become increasingly visible and controversial due to their potential to lead to detention, deportation, and family separation. These policies create fear and uncertainty not only within immigrant communities but also among undocumented individuals and their families, workplaces, and neighborhoods. As a result, immigration enforcement has become an important social issue, influencing the community's overall well- being, trust in institutions, and social stability. While this issue mainly effects undocummented individuals living in the United States, it also affects the community as a whole, friends, family, and partners who are susceptible to the role ICE plays in their lives. This issue also has global implications, as migration patterns, international economic conditions, global conflicts, and policy decisions. Because immigration enforcement is connected to economic, political, and social systems, it affects communities at many different levels of society. Christens (2012) discusses how psychological empowerment can be an important outcome of community development efforts.
