The poly ADP-ribose polymerase (PARP) family of proteins has been implicated in male meiosis, specifically in the DNA damage response (DDR) pathway that functions in meiotic sex chromosome inactivation (MSCI). In this study, we aim to understand the role of the PARP family in male meiosis. To this end, we used an ex vivo male germ cell culture model treated with the PARP inhibitor Olaparib and examined its effects on gene expression in spermatogenesis. Preliminary results identify over a thousand differentially expressed genes in treated cells. These genes have a variety of functions, including oxidative stress response, DNA damage response, and other gene regulatory processes of meiotic spermatocytes and post- meiotic spermatids. However, the results do not necessarily indicate that MSCI is affected. During male germ cell differentiation, postmeiotic round spermatids seem to be most affected by this inhibition. Our study cautions that male infertility should be evaluated when the PARP inhibitor Olaparib is used in patients. Voices of Migration: A Narrative on Immigration, Labor, and Bicultural Identity

About Paper:
This paper presents a study on a migration story from Mexico to the United States. It highlights the significance of immigrant labors and global communication. The study is based on an in-person interview of the author's family members, and it tackles the themes of family identity, traditions, and opportunities. The interview focuses on four key questions: (1) What were the challenges that the interviewees had overcome during their journey of immigration? (2) How did the interviewees' experiences align with broader societal expectations and the challenges faced by other immigrant families? (3) How did the interviewees perceive the adaptation to live as undocumented immigrants in the United States? (4) What insights and suggestions can the interviewee provide for future immigrants? Data was gathered through a series of interviews with the author's parents. These interviews covered topics of financial stability, cultural integration, and connection maintenance to the immigrants' homeland as reflected in cultural, economic, and political frameworks. This study aims to provide an understanding and transparency on migration experience and bicultural identity. These findings are expected to stimulate meaningful conversations with the topic of migration during a time of uncertainty and political pressure Investigating the impacts of using video games to teach engineering on different demographic groups Adele Newcomb
